OUT AND ABOUT WITH THE ROADSHOW
During the year Brita and I travel all over England and into Wales (still to make a visit to Scotland) taking the Roadshow to Family History Fairs. At each venue we have a table to exhibit copies of FACHRS newsletters, journals, books and CDs together with information literature about the society. We get the opportunity to chat to people explaining what FACHRS is all about and what we have achieved with our research projects.
Going to the shows allows us to answer the questions "What is FACHRS?" and "What do you do?" Hopefully we can convey our enthusiasm and encourage people to join the Society.
At the Fairs we get the chance to meet other stall holders. They include Family and Local History Societies, Record Offices, Archive Services and commercial enterprises who sell archival storage products, old street maps, books and postcards. This networking provides the opportunity to understand what they can offer members and in return allows us to promote FACHRS to them.
We always have an enjoyable day at the fairs, especially meeting members and catching up on how they are doing with their research.
