Lois Dean
I have been studying family history for several years and developed an interest in the
local history of my ancestors' surroundings, placing them in context, hence the
appeal of FACHRS.
Living in the North-West, I hold a family history certificate from the University
of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) in Preston and Oxford University's online Advanced
Diploma in Local History.
I worked as librarian for the Boys’ Division of Bolton School, which included
managing the school archives.
Later, I volunteered at Bolton Council’s Local History Library and also was
involved with Salford's Working Class Movement Library, in particular in its oral
history project, 'Invisible Histories', which recorded the memories of people who
worked for some of the city's former major employers.
Another interest is local traditions and folklore.
